The Maps soundings seem to be available only for 12 hours out, though the '13km bckup RUC' images are normally available for the full 48 hour forecast horizon. Am I correct in that the Maps soundings are derived from the same underlying data as the backup ruc images?
My concern is twofold- that the sounding data does not appear to consistently go beyond 10-12 hours out, and also, that the 3-5 hour ahead soundings could be from the tailend of the 48 hour model runs, meaning that the sounding data is ~36 hours old? We are using the entire 48 hour data set and actually wish it went out to 72 hours.
Thank you for maintaining such a (normally) great tool for us. We are relying on you guys and appreciate your efforts.
