In Response To: Vorticity in RUC2 output (Michael Maxwell)

Instead of using disk space and bandwidth to send absolute vorticity grids, why not compute them locally? Most if not all of the visualization packages from Unidata such as McIDAS and GEMPAK and other packages such as WXP and GrADS can compute the vertical component of relative and absolute vorticity from the u and v wind components. If you need assistance, send an e-mail and I'll be glad to help. At AWC, we'd rather see model output of fields that we cannot compute locally that are helpful to our mission of aviation forecasting.
