For those looking at 20km RUC precip, just an observation: I've found the 'precip type' product to be more helpful than the 'precip' product on the web. The 'precip type' includes hatched areas showing the INSTANTANEOUS precip at the output time. It still includes the color-shaded areas showing the accumulated precip over the last 3h. So, in one product, you can see the 3h acc and the instantaneous coverage. It is clear that the 20km RUC convective precip is often spotty when viewed from the instantaneous coverage. It seems reasonable to me, but see what you think. Stan
